Bangkok, Thailand (Part 1)

Last October 23, my parents and I boarded Air France as we headed to Bangkok, Thailand for a 5-day vacation. The country was as culturally rich as we are, although their tourism is visibly organized in all details.

On our second day, we went to the some great temples and palaces. The picture above is taken from the courtyard of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha while that one below is the famous Grand Palance of the Kingdom of Thailand. It was prohibited to take pictures inside the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, but I tell you, it's a sight to see!

I took these pictures myself and I'm incredibly proud of them (of course my mom says they're my best yet hahaha).

And then of course, we went to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha.

This picture only shows the head of the enormous Reclining Buddha, which was coated in gold and whose temple was adorned with precious stones. The one below was taken inside the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and from the courtyards.

And yet some more pictures from the courtyard of the Temple of the Reclining Buddha.

The final temple stop of the day was from yet another enormous buddha, The Standing Buddha. This too was coated in gold paper.

Thai religion, obviously Buddhism, is very much practiced all over the kingdom as evident in their intricate and elaborate temples and palaces. However, after an afternoon of temple hopping and other side trips, we went to the infamous Chatuchak Weekend Market. Now this place is unbelievably big, the open-air market which opens only on weekends, houses a variety of merchandise for sale from clothes and accessories to exotic pets! Definitely a shopper's paradise. We were so tired though, so after a few hours of shopping, we took a cab back to the hotel. After much discussion with the driver, in broken English, we finally got back and slept fitfully through the night.

Watch out for part two of this Thailand Trip.
