Tagaytay

I've been to Tagaytay many times before but not with Tita Mayette, AJ, Ellen and Cecille. We were constantly laughing in the car all the way to Tagaytay, in Tagaytay and even on the way back. It was such as a relief to get out and be away from QC (well Manila for me) and from the office. As usual, the topics of our conversation included those drama kings and queens, artistas in their own right, both showbiz and non-showbiz. Probably one of the benefits of working in this business is the fact that you'll get to know the "truth" of anything and everything that's happening in front and behind the camera lens. Truth be told, I am not a showbiz-follower nor am I an avid fan of local celebrities. Funny, how some people think that to be ironic, especially since I get to see some of them everyday, in the corridors, in the elevators, and yes, even in the gym lockers. For those non-showbiz personas, they might as well get in front of the cameras for their brouhahas are far worse.

The first stop was of course Starbucks Coffee, Tagaytay City. We almost didn't see the place as it was far from the main road.

We ordered banana pancakes and BLT sandwiches from Pancake House and just lounge the time away at Starbucks' veranda, all the time thinking how good it would be to wake up each day to such a great view.



When you spend the day relaxing, everything seems to be so slow. After what we thought was a long time enough, we had a short joyride and transferred to the picnic groves so we can start the barbecue.



We had a hearty lunch, while doing our favorite past time in the world - people watching. So aside from the usual weekenders, we saw a lot of foreigners with their Filipina partners, who all seem to come from the same fashion designer and hair stylist, if you know what I mean. Sorry, I can’t help myself.

By midday, we were getting kinda bored and decided to pack things up and head to Sonya’s Garden.



Now this was an interesting place, coz it’s known to serve dishes with flower petals as ingredients. How’s that for food!




Unfortunately, when we got there, we learned that there was a reservation list – you should book a day before going there. And wow the price was not cheap, it’s like eating at Red Crab or Cibo. So as not to spoil our loooong trip (we got lost on the way there), we just took lots and lots of pictures. The place was nice.



After that small adventure, we decided to eat again (it was more like a pig out day, hahaha), this time we decided to have bulalo at Viewsite.



It was quite an ambience as we were seated atop a bahay kubo perched on the side of a cliff overlooking Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.



We spent the later part of the afternoon there until sunset.



On the way back, we bought the usual pasalubongs at Collette’s. They dropped me off at Robinson’s Galleria for another late night gimmick with my high school classmates.
